Evangelos K. Geroliolios
Short Biography
Born in 1964 in Katerini, Vangelis Geroliolios graduated in 1982 from the Lyceum of Litochoro and in 1986 from the Department of Mathematics of the School of Sciences of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. He served his military service as a cadet officer. From 1988 and for eleven years he worked as a mathematics tutor in a secondary education tutoring center in Litochoro and Leptokarya, of which he was also a co-owner. In 1999, with the first ASEP competition, he was appointed to a public school. At the same time, he is involved in the family agricultural operation, which has continued for four generations. He is married to the philologist Fotini Davanou, with whom they have three sons, graduates of the Polytechnic School of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.
His civic engagement began during his student years. He served as president of a student group and a member of sports and cultural clubs. In the 2006 municipal elections, he was elected as the first-place municipal councilor in the Municipality of Litochoro, with the combination of former mayor Thanasis Tsifodimos. He served as president of the Municipal Council of the Municipality of Litochoro for the two years 2008-2010.
In February 2018, he announced his candidacy for the position of mayor with the combination "SYNTHESIS" (Synthesis). On September 1, 2019, he assumed the duties of mayor of the Municipality of Dion-Olympus.
After winning the municipal elections of October 8, 2023, Mr. Geroliolios was sworn in again as Mayor of the Municipality of Dion-Olympus on December 17, 2023, for the municipal period January 2024 - December 2028.
